Dear game lovers, 

The first new top 50 - in 2010 - of unplugged board and cardgames has been put online

2 new German websources have been added: Spielkult (http://www.spielkult.de/testneu.htm) and the Brettspiele Report (http://www.brettspiele-report.de/index-aller-spielrezensionen/). This sums up to a total of 32 available websources.

3 new games in the top 50 compared to the previous update:

Vasco Da Gama (What’s your game – 2009) was one of the best games on the previous Essen game fare and is the best new game [on position 31] this mailing.

2 other (older) games entered the top 50: [33] Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition (Fantasy Flight Games – 2004) and the successor of Agricola: Le Havre [35] (Lookout Games – 2008)

Puerto Rico (Alea) remains the number 1. Number 2 is now Through the Ages (Czech Board Games), before Funkenschlag (2F-spiele).

Other very good new games, published lately, are - in this order - Dominion: Seaside Expansion, Egizia (HiG), Dungeon Lords (Czech Games Edition), Last Train to Wensleydale (Treefrog), Rise of Empires (Phalanx Games), Endeavor/ Magister Navis (Lookout Games/ Z-Man Games), Tobago (Zoch), Schinderhannes (Clicker Spiele), Machtspiele/ Power Struggle (Eggert spiele), Macao (Alea) and Carson City (QWG Games) from the Belgian game designer Xavier Georges!

The top 25 of best children’s games has been updated: The top 3 is now 1. Wer War's? – 2. Gesagt, getan! - 3. Loopin’ Louie.
Wer War’s was the winner of the Kinderspiel des Jahres competition of 2008 and is now ranked as best children’s game.

Three new children games have entered the children top 25:

(left) Gesagt, getan! is an educational game from 2006 in which players have to guess images with means of hints on a drawing board.
(mid) Polizei-Alarm is a new Haba game for 2-4 players. One side plays a gang of safe-crackers who try to throw the correct combinations for the safes with some special dice under time-pressure. The other side is the Police, who tries to find the hideout of the gangsters.
(right) Lauras erste Übernachtung is a 2007 children’s game in the Laura series for 2-4 players.
